With a handful of places that interests me while deciding on my birthday travel, this 5-star resort in Mactan Island in Cebu stood out among my list. The island is one of the premier destinations in the country for those wanting a perfect beach destination. The pictures of Movenpick Resort and Spa are a tease and its history is very inviting as it just had a massive renovation at a cost of 200 PHP Million which is something worth checking. As I do further research, my excitement and desire to visit the place became more intense. And I made a decision to celebrate my birthday at this luxurious resort.
I spoke to a friend who just arrived from Dubai about my plan of giving my birthday a bit of a splurge. She loved the idea and asked me to book the plane ticket for the two of us which I did right away. And as soon as I sent her the screenshot of the flight confirmation, my very generous friend surprised me by showing the payment she made for the room she booked for our 3 days and 2 nights stay in Movenpick Resort and Spa. What an astonishing gift to start my birthday celebration! 🙂

The check-in was very easy. There was no queue and the staff was accommodating. I waited on one of the giant lounge chairs while my friend was making the arrangements for our room. With an angelic smile, the staff delivered the good news that they are upgrading our room to deluxe for free with a good view of the beachfront. An early surprise for my birthday!
While waiting for 3:00 PM which is the official check-in time, we decided to leave our bags to the guard and roam around the resort to check some of the facilities.
