Summer is just around the corner again! And as you think about where to spend a well-deserved break this season, I have a recommendation that may tick all the boxes of what you’re looking. A place that’s comparable to a foreign destination, Stilts Resort Calatagan.

This all started with my obsession with Maldives lately. Its crystalline blue waters, pristine white sands, stunning sunsets and the luxurious stay in their stilted villas is a little piece of heaven. Definitely, a dream destination if money is not taken into account.

But since most of us can’t afford it yet, I thought of a good alternative that’s comparable to its beauty and charm without getting broke. While searching online, I found Stilts Calatagan Beach Resort.

Stilts Calatagan Beach Resort in Batangas is the closest destination you can get that’s posh equivalent to the Maldives and just three hours drive from Manila. It has cottages that are built on stilts over the water and spread out off the coast with verandas that are perfect for watching the sunsets. Its clear blue waters are very inviting and its wide shoreline of fine sands is ideal for a long walk under the sun to get those tan lines. A perfect spot for a quality beach time.

Note: Make a reservation because the resort has a constant flow of guests and most of the time fully booked. The resort doesn’t allow walk-ins so make sure to call or email and deposit a reservation fee.

Just be patient when calling their numbers as you may get a busy tone most of the time. I dialed multiple times before I was able to speak to someone. They may be swamped with phone calls since this is their peak season.

When we get to the entrance we were approached by the guard holding a list of names with reservations. He asked for our names, checked the list and immediately gave us a laminated paper with our nook assignment. Then one of the guards guided us where to park and instructed us to go to the information booth to pay for our stay. Their parking area is huge!

We were offered a calamansi juice as a welcome drink. The staff said that it’s unlimited and we can always go back to get a glass of juice anytime during our stay. I’ve seen a few of this calamansi coolers stationed in different parts of the resort.

Before guiding us to our table, the staff provided a map so we can enjoy all of their amenities. The staffs are very accommodating and friendly.

This arch is the entrance to the pool area and the villas. The resort has flower-filled gardens with mini waterfalls. But what’s cool and noticeable are the quotes that are scattered all around the resort. I found myself reading the quotes out loud while we pass by each of them as they are very inspiring.

They have three pools but is very crowded when we got there on a noon time. So we decided to go the beach instead and went back when there are fewer people late in the afternoon.

We had our lunch at a restaurant near the infinity pool. One thing that we should’ve done is to pre-order our food because it took them 40 minutes to serve it. The food is a bit pricey but it taste okay.

The resort has three coastlines- Destiny, Serenity and the Harmony beach. The stilted villas and the open cottages are located in the Harmony beach. Serenity beach is where campers can stay overnight. The beach is calm and shallow and safe for kids.
